           A new year has begun and the time to welcome freshmen is coming soon. Most incoming students may have no idea about Ewha and Sinchon. They may not know much about which things to enjoy near Ewha. In fact, one of the joys of Ewha are the cafes near the front gate.

Cafe Teaenfant

Teaenfant” has been a popular place for a long time nearby Ewha Womans University’s front gate. This café is a tea house, so you can enjoy a great variety of teas from diverse countries.

 Because there are many kinds of teas; approximately 400 kinds, it is natural that you will be confused. For this reason, when you are not sure what to order at your first visit to this café, you can ask a waitress for explanations about the teas. Also, many people visiting “Teaenfant” not only like various teas, but also cheese cakes offered in limited quantities. Therefore, many people usually order milk tea or black tea with cheese cake.

Moreover, “Teaenfant” offers the service to sell tea bags by the piece, and you can buy a small quantity of various tea bags. In “teaenfant”, you can enjoy a variety of teas and cakes not found elsewhere, but the prices are relatively high. When you want to enjoy various and unique teas or cheese cakes nearby Ewha, the best place is “Teaenfant”.

Cafe Gamabean

Our team members went to a coffee shop named “Gama Bean” which one of our team members strongly recommended. The shop is not big and the shopkeeper’s son’s art works are on the wall. The lights are subdued with orange which gives a cozy atmosphere.

We ordered “Gama Bean” and “Dutchgatto”. “Gama Bean” is the desert consisting of a thin coating of Dutch coffee ice and rice cake are as a base. The ice cream with roast coffee bean and sweet red bean are placed on it. When you visit Gama Bean for the first time, the store keeper will spoon the first spoon for you. All of the elements of Gama Bean go together well. It tastes cold, soft, and nutty, with a slightly bitter and sweet flavor. The best thing is the roasted coffee beans. It’s really crunchy and nutty. “Dutchgatto” is the desert similar Apogatto and it’s quite delicious too. You have to try these. The price of Gama Bean is 5,000  won and Dutchgatto is 4,500 won. And the others items are priced between 4500 won ~ 6000 won.

The shopkeeper has a deep connection with Ewha. He was a coach of the Ewha baseball club. Also, Gama Bean is designed by Ewha students. When Ewha students and professors come to the store, he gives them a book where students add their comments. If you want to see how many students (also clubs) and professors have been there, go together with someone related to Ewha! 

Cafe Gridaggum

Café Gridaggum is located near Ewha’s front gate. Actually Gridaggum is a franchise. While franchises in Hapjung or Seogyo have book café style interior designs, Gridaggum Ewha is only for takeout beverages. It has no seats or tables. Gridaggum’s sign has yellow diamond star paints on the gray background color with no letters, so you may be confused at the first time you visit there.

Café Gridaggum’s best menu is “Real Strawberry Milk”. This special drink has a layer of milk, ice and strawberry so that you can blend it with straw. But be careful not to blend all the layers from the beginning. If you want to eat fresh and sweet taste till the end, you have to blend it slowly while drinking the beverage. Ocho Latte which means Oreo Chocolate latte is also popular menu at Gridaggum. Gridaggum also serves Dalnara Bingsu which is favored with dalgona candy and banana in summer.

Reasonable price and conspicuously big size is the most attractive advantage of Café Gridaggum. You can get hot americano or espresso at only 1900 won! Furthermore latte is 2300 won and all kinds of teas including lemon tea, grapefruit tea, and citron tea are 3500 won. Café Gridaggum doesn’t have any specific features compared to other special cafes. However, it is one of the most popular cafes of Ewha students.
